Malaga Airport Centauro — Costa del Sol budget
The queue was long but the rate was unbeatable. Documented every scratch and return was smooth. Patience pays.
Car hire reviews
Car hire in Malaga is one of the highest-value rentals in Southern Europe if your trip includes the Costa del Sol, Andalusian hill towns, or a wider road loop. Malaga city itself is manageable without a car for a short stay, but coastal and inland travel becomes far easier once you are driving. Malaga Airport pickup is usually the right choice because supplier competition is intense, stock is broad, and you avoid arranging a separate transfer into town. City pickup is worth considering only if you are staying centrally first and want to dodge airport queues. Roads are generally excellent, parking is the bigger issue in old centres and beach zones, and a compact car is still the sweet spot for most travellers. What matters most in Malaga is supplier behaviour: some desks are refreshingly efficient, others turn insurance into a performance. The reviews below help you work out which Malaga car hire options are actually worth booking.

Newer brand with competitive rates. The Seat was clean and fuel policy was fair. Growing network in Spain.

The queue stretched past the barrier, staff pushed €15/day wheel cover repeatedly, and a tiny fuel discrepancy at return sparked a debate not helped by a very full afternoon lot.

The handover was clear, the Nissan Juke had just 9,000km on it, and the desk gave sensible warnings about toll roads and after-hours returns without trying to terrify anyone into extras.

We booked a compact automatic and received a larger manual crossover instead; staff apologised and adjusted the rate, but it still meant relearning parking plans for old-town garages.
