Budget option that delivered. The Chevy Spark was tiny but perfect for SF street parking. Staff warned about the Lombard Street tourists and suggested alternate routes.

Avis counter at SFO Terminal 2 was efficient — no hard sell on insurance, which I appreciated. Got a 2025 Corolla Hybrid, 18K miles, flawless condition. Highway 1 from SF to Carmel is roughly 120 miles and spectacular. Return at SFO at 6AM was fast-tracked by a single agent working the early shift.

The rental car center is impressively organised and we were in our Tesla within 20 minutes of landing. The overnight fog meant an extra wipe-down, but staff had towels ready.

Worked out okay. Some waiting and the car had a few marks, but no issue on return.
