New York JFK Budget — the shuttle alone is an adventure

Allow an hour between landing and driving away. The AirTrain-to-shuttle-to-lot dance is exhausting, but the Nissan Altima was clean and the highway on-ramp directions were spot-on.

JFK rental centers are never fun, but Enterprise staff were patient with the queue and gave genuine NYC driving advice. The Nissan Sentra was basic but functional for Manhattan parking garages.

New York JFK Hertz — Queens pickup for Manhattan drop

One-way rental to Boston and Hertz handled it efficiently. The Toyota Prius was perfect for NYC streets and highway fuel economy. Deposit was reasonable for a one-way.

Picking up a car in Manhattan is a special kind of madness. Hertz was organised but the garage exit during rush hour cost us 40 minutes. Car itself was great.
