But for road trips to Hua Hin, Koh Chang (via ferry access), or northern Thailand destinations like Chiang Mai (with proper rental permissions), a rental can make sense for confident drivers. Bangkok Suvarnabhumi Airport (BKK) pickup is usually the best option because supplier choice is broad, airport logistics are clean, and you can head onto motorways without wrestling CBD congestion first. Don Mueang (DMK) is smaller and can work for budget-focused travellers, but fleet choice is thinner.
