Shuttle wait plus paperwork still totalled 28 minutes, but that counts as efficient here, and the Chevy Malibu was cleaner than many rivals manage after red-eye arrivals.

Friendly staff, clear child-seat pricing and a properly prepped Nissan Rogue made this one of the easier LAX rentals, even if the desk still floated an unnecessary roadside bundle.

The counter and fleet both impress, but the optional protections are eye-wateringly priced and the initial pre-authorisation can startle anyone who only glanced at the booking confirmation.

The proximity to the famous In-N-Out is a bonus, but the real win was a seamless midnight pickup when our flight was delayed. Staff didn't even blink at the late arrival.
